About us
The Augmented Intelligence Group is hosted by Swinburne University of Technology, sitting within the university's network of research centres, groups and schools. Led by Associate Professor Amir Aryani, the group brings together AI engineers, data scientists, research fellows, and subject matter experts to apply cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies across domains including health, mental health policy, cardiovascular research, government, and scholarly communication. Their work spans projects such as AugmentSME, MChart (a business intelligence tool for health planners), ResearchLink, an AI Maturity Model for organisations, and Responsible AI for Sensitive Data. The group collaborates closely with partners including the Centre for Information Resilience (CIRES), the Iverson Health Innovation Research Institute, the University of Canberra's Health Research Institute, the HEAL Network, and Orygen Medical Research Institute.
Our mission
Rather than replacing subject matter experts (SMEs), we are building new capabilities that empower them to achieve more, discover deeper insights, and ultimately redefine the boundaries of their fields using artificial intelligence (AI).
We focus on significantly boosting their cognitive capacity and deepening their domain expertise, while strategically integrating AI where it excels – rapidly generating vast amounts of content and performing sophisticated data analysis at scale.
